Dr. Buttar died May 18, 2023.

Early on he noticed a link between heavy metals toxicity and cancer. It is now recognized that heavy metals can cause DNA damage in the human body, and that the resulting DNA damage can and does cause cancer.

Dr. Buttar was the Medical Director for the Centers for Advanced Medicine where he has directed the care of patients from over 90 countries over the last 23 years. He graduated from Washington University with a double major in Biology and Theology, and then attended medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, College of Medicine and Surgery. He trained in General Surgery and Emergency Medicine and served as Brigade Surgeon and Director of Emergency Medicine while serving in the U.S. Army.

Dr. Buttar was board certified in Clinical Metal Toxicology, Preventive Medicine, was board eligible in Emergency Medicine and achieved fellowship status in three separate medical societies. He served as the President of NCIMS, Chairman of the ABCMT, was involved in polypeptide research and development of innovative drug delivery mechanisms and had served as faculty at North Carolina State University as well as an instructor for PALS, ACLS and ATLS through the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Buttar lectured world-wide, was featured in national and international media and testified before the US Congress. He was ranked among the “Top 50 Doctors in the US” and his first book, "The 9 Steps to Keep the Doctor Away" became an international best seller, now translated into multiple languages.
